Howarth Park was one of the first places that I fell in love with in Santa Rosa. I have two little kids (so we spend a lot of time at the park) and I feel blessed to live walking distance to this beautiful sanctuary. You will find the usual park stuff here, big grassy areas, picnic tables, swings, play structures, tennis courts, and a baseball diamond. But you will also find some pretty unique features for the kids like a Carousel, Bouncy House, Animal Barn, Pony Rides, and a quarter mile long miniature train ride! There are also miles of hiking & jogging trails, fishing and a variety of boats available for rent on Lake Ralphine!
We have a lot of beautiful parks here in Santa Rosa, but Howarth Park lives up to it’s reputation as the “Jewel” of the Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks Department. If I had to have one complaint, it is sometimes tough to find parking on busy weekends. That said, even when the lot is full and you have to find a spot on the street, the park is so large that it never feels overcrowded.
The park is open daily from Sunrise to Sunset. There are specific seasonal hours for the rides & animal attractions, so check their website before you go. It is a great place to host a party with several picnic areas available for reservation. And they also host a weekly, family friendly Movies in the Park series from August to September.
